Peanut Butter Temptations

We originally were not going to post this recipe so close to the Peanut Butter Kisses because people often compare the two, but then we figured they kind of go hand in hand with each other.  There are a lot of different recipes out there, but we finally found the perfect one - it's the recipe printed on the back of the Reese's Miniatures bag. (We were kind of surprised too!)  We could tell you it is a family secret recipe, but then that would put us in the same category as Phoebe's grandmother.  Kait cannot help but think of that scene every time we make this recipe!  For the 4th Day of Cookies, here are Peanut Butter Temptations!

Ingredients:
  • 1 Bag of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups Miniatures
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 375
  2. Remove the wrappers from the Reese cups
  3. Spray a mini muffin tin with non-stick baking spray
  4. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.  Set aside
  5. In a stand mixer, beat butter, sugar, brown sugar, peanut butter, egg and vanilla until fluffy
  6. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture, beating until well blended
  7. Shape dough into approximately 1 inch balls, and place in mini muffin cups (do not smooth or flatten)
  8. Bake 10 to 12 minutes, until puffed and lightly browned
  9. Remove from one and immediately press Reese cup into the center of each cookie
  10. Cool completely in the muffin pan
  11. Serve & enjoy!
